A normally closed high pressure solenoid valve from Dema Engineering. Touts 240 VAC and a 1200 PSI maximum. Flow rate of 85.98 GPM @ 60 PSI.
Prop 65
The 458P.4 is a Dema Engineering normally closed high pressure solenoid valve. Made from brass, the valve uses a 1" NPT pipe size and 15/16" orifice. The size of the solenoid along with the operating pressure range of 10 PSI to 1200 PSI means you can expect a flow rate of 85.98 GPM @ 60 PSI. A 240 VAC connection will power the solenoid valve. Dema developed this solenoid valve to operate similarly to that of a pilot operated valve, the only difference is the pilot port sits in a separate chamber from the piston. What this does is allow the plunger to operate closer to the top of the plug with more force, generating higher opening pressure.
This solenoid application is intended for use with water only, not gas, compressed air, or other liquids. Teflon seals are in place, along with stainless steel pistons. Finally, the valve is rated for up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit fluid temperature and 120 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperature.
When a normally closed solenoid valve is energized, an electromagnetic field is created within the coil surrounding the plunger. This electromagnetic field pulls the plunger upward, away from the valve seat, thus allowing fluid to flow through the valve. In the context of a Dema 458P.4 solenoid valve, once the plunger is lifted, water can pass through at the specified flow rate of 85.98 GPM @ 60 PSI, provided other system conditions, such as pressure and temperature, are within the operational parameters. The valve's design, which includes Teflon seals and stainless steel pistons, ensures that it operates efficiently. Consequently, this setup guarantees that the valve remains reliable for industrial applications requiring precise fluid control.
